Ganpat VolunTeacher Movement (GVM) is a unique student movement started at Ganpat University, Mehsana empowering the students of the university to become GVTs (Ganpat VolunTeachers) and conduct VolunTeaching in 7 villages of Mehsana and Patan districts at present. Started in September 2012 in Mulsan village, GVM has successfully started VolunTeaching efforts in 6 other villages, viz. Gilosan, Nugar, Lanva, Dharpuri, Rampura and Dharusana. AIREP VTs (VolunTeachers) started VolunTeaching every Sunday in Paldi Kankaj in the year 2008 and with the guidance of the noted educationalists, the effort grew to thrice a week, i.e. every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Wednesday sessions are conducted in the school, where the VTs teach basic English / Maths / Science in the school premises (every year VTs meet the school authorities and chart the plan for the Wednesday sessions throughout the year.) The Saturday sessions are focused on extra curricular activities nurturing the kids’ creativity and offers them value based learning. Sunday sessions are conducted in different communities of the village and witness maximum participation from the VTs and the kids, where formal and informal approaches merge.
